“Heart Heroes: Spotlight on Children with CHD”
Every day, thousands of children born with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) face challenges most of us can’t imagine. Yet, these young warriors show incredible strength, resilience, and courage—earning them the name Heart Heroes.
This blog is a tribute to these remarkable children and their families, who redefine bravery with every heartbeat.
What Makes a Heart Hero?
A Heart Hero is any child living with CHD—whether they’ve had multiple surgeries, use medical devices, or continue with daily medications. Despite hospital stays, procedures, and uncertainty, they smile, play, learn, and grow like any other child.
Their strength doesn't come from perfect health—but from how they rise above their battles.
The Reality of CHD
CHD affects 1 in every 100 babies, making it the most common type of birth defect. Some children are diagnosed during pregnancy, others shortly after birth. While medical advances have significantly improved outcomes, the journey is often filled with surgeries, follow-ups, and emotional stress.
But even through it all, these children continue to inspire.
Stories That Inspire
Whether it's a toddler taking their first steps after open-heart surgery, or a teen advocating for CHD awareness—each story matters. These Heart Heroes teach us that every heartbeat is a victory, and every milestone is worth celebrating.
Sharing their stories helps raise awareness, foster community, and provide hope to families just beginning their CHD journey.
